Like others, I am baffled at what they're doing with the movie version of Beowulf. I saw an ad for it last night, which was the first time I realized that it was a 3D film instead of a true live-action movie. It's Robert Zemeckis, so of course it's not pure animation, it's motion-capture. I don't necessarily have a problem with this, although I think the performances you get from mocap are stilted compared to what you get by turning animators loose. What I don't get, though, is why anyone would take motion capture of Angelina Jolie, and then create a 3D copy of her (which at a glance seems to fall squarely in the dreaded uncanny valley), when they clearly had access to the real thing.
