Red light, green light

Excellent analogy for the dimwitted policy we seem to have re: Lebanon & Israel.

Fjord!

My blog reading tends to be split between political stuff and writers/animation, with very little crossover except when someone on the artistic side has a rant about something going on in the political world. It's always a trip when the overlap runs in the other direction, as it did today when both TAG and Atrios pointed to the new Pinky and the Brain DVD set, which I may just have to add to my own wish list...

McCain vs. Bush

There's apparently some speculation that even if the Democrats don't take the Senate, McCain may sic investigators on the Defense Department/Bush administration. Maybe. Any hope that this may be the case is going to be tempered by this, however:

I love you, man!

Anyone who puts their faith in Republicans to police their own is a fool.

At a loss

ebFetal2.jpgSo let me see if I have this right...

  • Hezbollah kidnaps two soldiers, and as a result Israel unleashes untold carnage on Lebanon.
  • Our Dear Leader, fresh from a summit of smack-talking and molestation, arrives back to the US just in time to send a rush shipment of bombs to facilitate said carnage.
  • Meanwhile, the evacuation of Americans from Lebanon is proceeding pretty much like you think it might if you paid any attention to Katrina. And not only are people getting stranded, but the American government is asking people to pay their own way.
  • If these Americans don't get out, they could get killed with American bombs.
  • Meanwhile, Iraq is still on the fast track to hell, and the Bush Administration is quibbling over words.
  • Our media, in between snazzy techno introductions, keeps coming back to what really matters-- the price of oil. Because really, what are mere human lives compared to the cost of filling up your SUV?
  • And just to top things off, some people in this country are thrilled at all this because they think Jesus is coming in his Chevy Tahoe to take them all away.
God help us all.

Bopcyling

This is totally cool. The Ditty Bops are touring the US by bicycle. Looks like they're wisely staying in yankee territory so we won't get to see them, but c'est la vie.

Just a number

Got my 10,000th visitor this morning, whee! Unfortunately, I can't tell what page the person looked at, but I can tell you that the visit was from Singapore. That's cool all by itself.

Taking it easy

So far this holiday weekend hasn't been quite as productive as I would have hoped. Part of that is due to a brief bout of illness, but the rest is probably my own fault. Oh, well. There are still a couple days left, right?

Had Enough?

I can't take credit for the phrase, and there are others who are also doing images based on the slogan, but as far as I know nobody owns the phrase, so I've gone ahead and made a bumper sticker based on it. As I think will become more clear in the weeks ahead (if it's not obvious already), the only hope we have for rolling back the excesses of the Bush administration is to get the Democrats in charge of Congress. Watch what happens with the legislation and debate that develops in response to the Supreme Court's Hamdan decision. Republicans have done nothing for the last several years but give the Bush administration a pass on pretty much everything, and they show no signs of doing any different this time. If you've had it, then vote Democrat.

FWIW: I'm not making any money off these, and have set the price at the CaféPress minimum.
