Yow!

Okay, Howard Dean has apparently caught some flack for his speech after the Iowa caucuses - particularly the arrrrrhhhh (or raaaaah or yyyeeeeaaahhh) portion. It has even inspired some musical expression:

I have to say, though, I found it refreshing. It isn't often that I giggle at campaign speeches - and even today I am still giggling when they replay it. Let him be excited - it doesn't hurt anyone - and laughter is good, right?!

Steroids???

Really? Steroids?

Is that really a pressing national issue?

I don't know, maybe I am delusional - I thought perhaps the budget, unemployment, medicare, the deficit, the axis of evil, anything at all about Afghanistan?

$27,000,000 to leave no child untested - for drugs???? Couldn't that money be put into proactive use - for education, for recreation, for counseling - rather than to use to see whether the kids are already on drugs.

To paraphrase Dean - "arrrrrhhhhhh" (yes - that was taken out of context, but is a direct quote.)

um - is it 2004 yet?

So, I am not always particularly good at this blogging thing. But, I mean well. Not much to report as the new year gets underway - let's see in the last 12 days this is all:
- discovered: 1 dead fish due to the heat being turned up (ALL THE WAY) at work rather than down over the Christmas Holiday
- submitted: 1 grant with 2 more due this Friday
- wrote/edited: 1 other grant, 2 grant proposals, 3 short papers for conference proceedings
- received: about a million emails - over 40 of which are sitting unread in my inbox because I have officially given up on keeping up with them
- worked out: 3 times (wow that's bad given I normally go for 3-4 workouts per week)
- attended: 1 wholesaler show, 1 baby shower, 1 lab meeting, 1 faculty meeting, 1 teacher meeting, and 1 workshop (which I co-taught)
- ordered: 3 AppleCare warranties for project computers
- registered: for 1 conference
- watched: the guy at Bishero make pizza (WOW!), All Grown Up (the new rugrats show), 3 episodes of The Daily Show, the James Bond movie with Halle Berry (certainly one of the best bond girls ever), High Noon
- Played: fewer games than I would have liked, and less Bass than I ought to
- cleaned: and cleaned, and cleaned, and washed dishes and ....
- slept:poorly and less often than I might like

Well, that's the gist of it. Life's been busy!
