File this Under Brilliant Political Moves

Last I checked, DA's were elected officials and cared what their constituents think, but maybe not everywhere.....

Prosecutor: Blake jurors were 'incredibly stupid'

Now, that's the way to win friends and influence enemies.

ANWR

I don't think there are words to describe the combination of sadness, anger, and hopelessness I feel as a result of the ill-thought-out, immediate-gratification seeking behavior of our elected officials. I hope they come up empty - the projection is apparently that ANWR can product up to 1 million barrels per day. Impressive, except that the US uses 10 million barrels per day (half of the worldwide use!). Is it really worth it?

If you can't beat the system

So, apparently, Jay Leno has gone to the effort of having a stand-in come in to deliver the Michael Jackson jokes that Leno is prevented from telling during the trial. On the one hand, I have to acknowledge that this is a great example of thinking outside of the box on Leno's part. On the other hand, I wonder what the judge is going to say to him tomorrow - I can't imagine that the judge will find Leno's creative thinking to be particularly funny.
